Either November 13, 2008 is an unlucky day for MF or it is an unlucky day for those who would abuse the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. It’s “day one” of MediaFairness.com (a/k/a “MF”). Game on.
MF is not intended to be an ideological “right wing” site. The preference is to make the case for unbridled media (within the reasonable confines of decency and lawfulness) – especially as concerns political and religious speech, letting the market determine what messages the public (or segments of the public) want to hear.
The mainstream press is tugging very hard to the left. The media applaud the absurd and that which is simply nonsense, and they exalt the candidates who look good, speak cool, but have not an iota of qualifications. The media has been unable to do anything other than vilify President Bush (as if their very paychecks depended on federal funding of the Democrat-controlled Congress!). I’m not a huge fan of Mr. Bush, but I don’t recall any terrorist attacks on our soil since September 11, 2001 – as an example of media bias, this seems rather forgotten. Meanwhile, those of us who think and base our politics on reality, study of history and serious thought, rather than “feelings”, hand-outs and appearances, need to tug hard to the right to prevent an irreversible slide into bloated government spending, higher taxation and socialism (the nationalization of specific industries), or worse – communism. Yes, I said it: COMMUNISM (and if you believe that is too far-fetched, please stop reading my opinion and read this). After all, what logically follows after the government absconds with private industry through socialism? Answer: All property (or societal bankruptcy).
Note to the uneducated or under-educated: Hitler was a socialist (not a “right wing extremist” as the press has led many to believe), Stalin was a socialist/communist, Mao was a communist. Austria, Great Britain, Finland, Sweden, Germany – they’ve all been, to some degree, socialist and they’ve suffered tremendous taxation rates, high unemployment (thanks to the disincentive of gov’t hand-outs), inability for government to support and deliver services, and for most, national regret. One thing they have all had in common in their past is either absolute control over broadcast media, a small group of nationally-owned media outlets or such limited amount of private-owned media outlets, that savvy politicians could exercise considerable control and influence over them. It’s no coincidence that the opening up of media to private interests has been correlative to the lessening of socialist policy in at least a few of the aforementioned nations. When it comes to media control and its contribution to socialism and governmental control of the people, it’s all bad. The free market (with reasonable restrictions and controls) and the rule of law (not man) is what has made America great – what’s with this recent media frenzy to tear it down?
The inability of the major television networks and newspapers to treat political matters fairly and report true facts in an honest fashion without hint of motive, and the eagerness of so many Americans to lap up what they’re fed, tells MF that a great movement must be undertaken and supported to re-instill decency, self-motivated fairness and integrity to the media. I believe (not “feel”) that a great many politicians would wise up and contain their march to socialism if the media accurately reported their positions and activities and frankly explored the potential peril of those leftist positions and activities. The childish snickering of Keith Olbermann, Larry King, Bill Maher, Matt Lauer, Baba Wawa [insert any number of talking head names here], the snide and left-leaning delivery and obsession with nonsense of so many newscasters, and the free pass consistently handed out by the press to the likes of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd (the ones actually in charge of the ruination of the economy) must be brought into check by John Q. Public – no one else will do it for us. As such, it is time to vote them out and hold them accountable by turning the channel, boycotting their advertisers (or at least giving them an ear full) and demanding that those in the broadcast, cable and print media (other than the Internet and talk radio where balance and fairness seem to actually presently exist), report truthfully without agenda. It’s also time to break Hollywood’s back by letting their DVDs and CDs sit on the store shelves, their concerts go un-sold out and their movie theatres half-empty. It’s a tall order – but the battle cry must be sounded and we the people must prevail!
No problemo!
